Meet the Web Site Designers
Web Site Designers: True Teamwork
Promotion Web Design is owned and operated by Jason and Darcy Bunn. Married for almost five years, they have two children, a preschool-aged boy and a toddler girl. They enjoy working together and their complimentary talents and skills have led to many a creative and sometimes complex project successfully completed. They “fell into” the web design business when their volunteer work as web site designers prompted friends and family to suggest that they consider going into the web design business.
Before getting serious about web design themselves, Jason and Darcy considered hiring web designers for their own small businesses. However, they could not find the value and attention to detail they desired for a reasonable price. Now they are able to build not only the web sites they had been hoping for, but to provide the same attention and creativity to other business owners, for a fraction of the cost quoted by many web site designers.
Their philosophy: Every business deserves a great web site at a fair price.
Web Site Designer Profile: Jason Bunn
Who says it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to design a web site? Okay, well maybe it doesn’t, but it doesn’t hurt to have one handy when you need him! Jason graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Techmology (MIT) with a Bachelors and Masters in Aeronautics/Astronautics. His work in aerospace took him to Lockheed Martin in California and then to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. While designing guidance and navigation software for spacecraft at JHU, he earned a Masters in Computer Science, and participated in the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute. At Promotion Web Design, besides contributing to the layout and design process, Jason works in the code of the web site to make sure it is easy for both humans and search engines to read.
Web Site Designer Profile: Darcy Bunn
Darcy Bunn graduated suma cum laude from the Universtiy of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelors degree in English and a minor in writing. She began designing web sites in 1998 while working for a church. She was told she was good at “making things attractive,” and that bit of praise led her to keep learning about web design. After earning a Masters degree in theology, she used her creativity and writing ability in producing an original CD. Throughout these years she helped design and maintain basic web sites for her parents’ two businesses. She honed her eye for design after marrying Jason when she redecorated their home using faux paint techniques. After the family moved from Maryland to Wisconsin, she and Jason began running their own small businesses, which led to her pursuit of web graphic design skills. At Promotion Web Design, Darcy builds her web designs around the best search terms for a page, combining utility with beauty.
Web Designers Highlights
*It’s not rocket science - but the software design experience that comes from making spacecraft fly can really make your web site take off!
* Asking most web designers to write some content for the web pages is like asking them to do your windows. But one of our web site designers is trained in writing, and in fact, enjoys it!
* Building a web site is a little like redesigning a house - things look better when they line up, it’s worth taking the time to choose the right layout and colors, etc. These designers completely restored, updated and decorated an old cape cod the first three years of their marriage, nearly doubling it’s value.
* As the internet grows up, it’s clear that good writing is just as important as technical skills. Promotion Web Design combines writing, graphic arts, and high-tech skills with an under-standing of small business. They know how to make theweb work for you.
